Pink Butterfly Card

Card page stampGood day, friends…

Welcome to Leisure Lane.  Well, I got a little creative Thursday, and decided to make a card with some odds and ends I had ‘laying’ around.  So while you relax and sip your tea or coffee, I’ll tell you all about it.

I used one of the lovely tags I bought many moons ago, again, at the Dollar Tree.  Then I added some lace, ribbons, and a most pretty little pink butterfly I received from a blogger friend in a box full of goodies.

IMG_1514I left it blank on the side because I thought it would be fun to play with it in Photoscape and add words in different font styles.

As you can see the ideas are endless…well, almost, anyway 😉  And of course the inside can remain blank for a personal note, or a printed verse can be added.

I hope you enjoyed your visit here…feel free to take a stroll along the Lane, and you’re always welcomed.

Until next time, may happy days abound!

For My Dad…A Father’s Day Remembrance

Dear friends…

Welcome to Leisure Lane, as we celebrate Father’s Day.

I didn’t have lazy parents…I rarely saw my parents lounging around doing nothing, except on occasion or late at night.  They were always busy doing something, so I don’t really know where I inherited my laziness.  But that’s a subject for another session…I mean post.

Not all things come up roses all the time, and my dear father battled with a troubled emotional past for most of his life.  But he worked hard to provide for all of us, and he didn’t always have an easy time of it.  He also put aside most of who he really was and what he really had a passion for in order to accomplish this.  But we always had plenty to eat, good clothes to wear, and a good education. And he did it all from Love.

My father loved cardinals, so the following is dedicated to him…a poem I wrote some years ago with him in mind.  An altered picture of one of  the cardinals from my Knittington Fairies collection accompanies it.  Using Photoscape, I’ve added a little Forget-Me-Not flower as a reminder to remember the man who brought me into the world, gave his all, and did his best to sustain me..  I’d like to think the spirit of the cardinal is taking it to him with love from me.

The Cardinal

The cardinal perched upon the limb
And chirped his song most gaily;
Welcoming a new sunrise
As was his custom daily.

I too, urged by his bright song
Woke to tender recollection;
Thoughts of my two fathers dear
Whom for the cardinal share affection.

The one, he fondly loved the bird
For its demeanor royal;
The Other, for creating him
Would He remain most loyal.

And then I thought how both they still
With loving dedication,
Attend the cardinal’s every need
From each one’s heavenly station.

Stargazer and Hydrangea

Hello friends…

Some people bring home stray animals, I bring home stray clearance plants.  Like this beautiful Stargazer Lily!

Only one flower was opened when I brought it home a few days ago…look at it now!

The flower is lovely and the fragrance is divine.  I slipped off the pollen pads which doesn’t affect the fragrance at all.

I also brought home this beautiful hydrangea plant.  I just transplanted it in the front where it will get lots of shade.  Remember I live in good ole’  (SE) Texas where everything’s big including the heat and humidity index.

I paid only $5.oo each.

I also finally transplanted the miniature rose bushes I bought last year.  I hope they bloom better in the ground.  They didn’t do very well in the pots.

I am blessed because God has favored me with these beautiful flowers to nurture and enjoy.  What unexpected surprises did you bring home this week?

Joining Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for Pink Saturday.  You’re welcome to join the fun.  Thank you for visiting Leisure Lane.

Until next time, may happy days abound!

A Little Something Extra

A quick sketch I made last night to keep the creativity flowing.

Express Your Joy

A flower cannot help but express its joy!

May each of you, dear friends, find a way to express your joy…and may the spirit of God shine through your eyes.

Until next time, may happy days abound!

…A Sleigh ride with You

Hello friends, and welcome to Leisure Lane…

I must admit that with a  job I don’t have a lot of time for the things I’d really like to be doing.  In fact, I shamefully admit that these sweet penguins have been sitting out all year!

My son likes penguins, so when I spied this cute decoration about five years ago, I just had to get it.  The sleigh was rather boring, so I spruced it up a bit with some enamel white paint to give it a snowy look.  I think it looks so much better, don’t you?

Look! They’re posing for their picture to send you a very happy Pink Saturday, where they’re joining Beverly at How Sweet the Sound, and all the other glamorously pinkish ladies.  I hope you get a sleigh ride in this season!

Until next time, may happy days abound!

Autumn Still

Hello friends,

Usually after Thanksgiving (and sometimes before) everyone is in a rush for Christmas.  I love Christmas, too, but it’s still autumn, and I’d like to slowly take it in and savor every moment.  So today I’d like to share two things I created.

The first is the basket full of faux autumn leaves I made many years ago.  It’s been tucked away for quite a few years.  But this year I decided to grace my table with it again.  I think it truly captures the aura of fall – especially on the pretty pashmina I recently purchased.

I’d also like to share a song I wrote about autumn.  I’m not a musician so I usually forget the melody with which I originally wrote the words.  But I like the message nevertheless, and perhaps one day I’ll just put another melody to it, or I’ll recollect the original.

Autumn…A Wonderful Time Of Year

Autumn is a wonderful time of year…
When the air turns crisp and cool,
And yellow buses head off to school
Autumn is a wonderful time of year.

Autumn is a wonderful time of year…
When the leaves turn gold and red,
And it’s early off to bed
Autumn is a wonderful time of year.

 Apple crisp is baking,
Children busy raking…piles of leaves to jump in
Hip Hooray!

 Pumpkins at the front door,
Hot cider from the town store…with cinnamon to warm
On a chilly day.

Autumn is a wonderful time of year…
When Jack Frost comes to call
In an early morning Fall.
Autumn is a wonderful time of year.

Autumn is a wonderful time of year…
When the sun is earlier rising,
And a brisk walk is enticing
Autumn is a wonderful time of year.

 Father watching football,
Children playing tackle…Mother baking pies
For company.

 Autumn please don’t hurry,
Please linger, don’t you scurry…so quickly this time
Away from me.

Autumn is a wonderful time of year…
When our hearts are set aglow,
With giving thanks for those we know.
Autumn is a wonderful time of year.

Autumn is a wonderful time of year…
When learning 1 + 1 is 2,
And that I’m happy I have you

Autumn is a wonderful time~~~~

Autumn is a wonderful time~~~~

Autumn is a wonderful time of year~~~

Thank you for strolling by Leisure Lane.  I am joining Pink Saturday with our host, Beverly, from How Sweet the Sound.  Until next time, may happy days abound!

Vision Manifested

Good day, friends…

I’ve been having some wonderful days full of beautiful spiritual revelations and liberation…as well as gorgeous cool, crisp weather. Perfect for taking walks and clearing out the cobwebs from ones soul.

As you can see, my vision for the little thrift store find has been manifested.  Oh, it’s brought my senses such delight for the past few days.  When I found the pretty lead crystal vessel I immediately imagined pink roses gracing it.

Just as I imagined.

Loving oneself, purely, sweetly, and genuinely is the greatest gift we can give the world.  It is the wish of Heaven, and the stone tossed in the pond from which every ripple of Love ventures forth.  It is the nucleus of a greater earth.

Enjoy the day immensely, and until next time, may happy days abound!

Pretty Find

Hello Friends,

I’m very happy you came by to visit today.  Thursday I went to my local resale shop where I found a very pretty crocheted ‘clutch’.  I love to crochet, so I was impressed to find this sweet item.  To think of all the work that went into making it, and the little price tag read $1.99.

I like the filet crochet pattern.  It’s attached on the sides to form a pocket, and the flap folds over and is fastened with a pearlized button.  It can be used for holding just about anything from stockings to scarves.

I decided to keep my mother’s vintage hanky and some of her scarves in it.  Maybe I’ll add a few more things of hers. A perfect memento holder.  It’s in beautiful condition, as you can see.  I’ll just give it a hand washing and dry it flat, and it will be ready to use.

I just love this hanky.  It’s so cheery with its blues and reds, pinks, and green.  And the red edging frames it in such a lovely way, don’t you agree?  And I remember it in my mother’s drawer from when I was a little girl.

I’m joining Pink Saturday with our host Beverly at How Sweet The Sound AND Mosaic Monday with our host Mary at Little Red House.

Speaking of Pink Saturday, you may remember Elizabeth from My Sweet Prairie Home.  Elizabeth was asking for fabric donations to make pillow cases for the residents in a local home.  Since I didn’t have enough fabric suitable for pillow cases I promised that for the month of October I would donate half of my profits from the October sales of my book, The Christmas Pin Society.  Well I am grateful to say that 5 books sold.  Since my profits aren’t all that much, I’ve decided to donate ALL of my profits, and I’ll add an additional $5.  I’m happy to say Elizabeth will be receiving $10.90.

Until next time, may happy days abound!
