Ideals Easter Edition 2022 Publication

Good day to all you Leisure Lane strollers,

There’s been a lot going on, and I haven’t been able to post so much of what I’ve wanted to share with you. So, here’s one of the items I’ve been meaning to post…a little late, but nevertheless, just as exciting.

Last year, Ideals, that delightful nostalgic publication, made a dream come true by publishing one of my poems, Easter Baskets, in their Easter 2021 edition. You can check it out here. I’ve shared my mother’s love of the magazines since childhood and have fond memories of the two of us reading their poems and stories together, as well as delighting in their superb photography. So, it was a dream of mine to be published in one of their editions. Well, I’m happy to say, that they republished Easter Baskets in their Easter 2022 edition!

Ideals used to publish quarterly, and their glorious photos of autumn in New England were always the best! Though they only publish now a Spring and Christmas edition, their content still retains all the integrity and character it’s always had for as long as I can remember. Thank you Ideals, for bringing readers uplifting, inspirational, and character building content. If you want to check out their recent and past issues, you can check out images here.

The Song of Mary Magdalene – revisited

Happy Wednesday, everyone, and thank you for visiting Leisure Lane today. During this Easter week, I am revisiting some past posts that I hope will be of inspiration and enjoyment to you, while most of us are cloistered in our homes. This one was originally posted April 20, 2017.  The beautiful truth of Jesus is timeless and nothing can prevent its beauty and good news – not even Covid-19, whose name must bow to the name of Yeshua (Jesus). So, during this time, let us remember the One who came and saved us from all things detrimental to our spirits, minds, and body. While we have more time, let us move closer to the One who loves us and wishes our return into His rest. The Father is willingly available to all who call upon Him in truth and love. Stay calm, use wisdom, let someone know you love them today, and be blessed!

The Song of Mary Magdalene

How can you ask me, “Who is this man?”
How can you see him and not understand?
Have you not heard his words, have you not seen my plight?
Can’t you see in his eyes the Eternal One’s light?

How can you ask me why I feel love?
Can’t you see, he’s the Son of the Father above?
Forgive me for saying your cause is unfair,
And I see in your faces unkindness and dare.

Look into my eyes.  Can’t you see it so clear?
My soul was once filled with burdens and fear,
But now I have peace, where once there was none.
I cannot explain it; I’m complete, yet undone.

I will not carry your angst and your doubt.
Not now, that I’m free from within and without.
And your questions of uncertainty and unbelief
Can never remove my resolve and relief.

If you remain hardened with hearts made of stone,
Your spirits shall live in the darkness alone.
But I’ll remain joyful while I live on this earth,

Resurrection Inspiration – revisited

Hello everyone, and welcome to Leisure Lane. Leading up to Easter, I would like to republish another post – this one from April 2017. I hope it inspires you to look beyond the veil from the temporal to the eternal, giving hope and gladness as we cloister ourselves in the womb of healing during this trying season. I hope it gives you a glimpse into what faith can accomplish when offered with a willing and open heart. This is a moment in the earth when we get to reset the world’s communal thought pattern to one of Life in the Eternal Being – and, Oh, what an amazing and holy course it could put us on. Stay healthy and calm, use wisdom, remain in His grace, and enjoy.

No One Knew the Mystery of Jesus

No one knew the mystery of the Father.
No one knew the mystery of Love.
How He gave His heart
And took our part,
That mystery of Devotion from above…

No one knew the mystery of Sorrow.
No one knew the mystery of Bliss,
As He hung upon a tree
For the sake of you and me,
That mystery of Triumph with a holy kiss.

No one knew the mystery of Jesus.
No one knew the mystery of Eternity;
How God in man
Could unfold a plan,
That mystery of perfect harmony.

Now the time for mysteries is over.
For there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed.
Simply seek and you will find,
As you renew your precious mind
To the mind of the Love and the Father above…

Symbols of Easter

Hello friends,

More often these days we are hearing the question, “What do eggs and bunnies have to do with Easter?”  I understand that we have to be careful not to replace symbols for the true revelation of the Resurrection, but I feel, this Easter that I should address this question and the true significance of these symbols.

I don’t think it was a random coincidence that Jesus was born in the Spring (though the date of his birth is considered June 17th, which is technically still in the spring season), and physically died in the Spring.  The Spring season has always represented rebirth, restoration, replenishment, and resurrection.  So is it any wonder that pre-Christians and even the early Christians would hold onto the very symbols of New Life.   As far back as time itself the earth and man have looked forward to the promise of Spring, and sought the very Creator who originated that promise.

From within the recesses of the dark egg emerges life.

Bunnies, bless their hearts, have always been the symbol of replenishment.

All things are born new during this season.  All things are resurrected from the dark bowels of the earth.

It was in the Spring that Jesus came from the dark womb, kicking and exercising his little lungs with audible bursts… the first sounds of his treasured voice.  And it was in the Spring that he rose from the bowels of the dark earth with a restored, replenished body…with the promise of resurrection for all.

So dye your eggs, put out your baskets and little bunnies, display your beautiful flowers with faces bright and beautiful, remembering the promise of Rebirth-remembering Jesus, our sweet Lord, and all he came to teach us.

I wish all my friends, near and far, a happy, most joyful Easter.  May your minds, body, and spirit be replenished during this truly Divine season.
