Happy September!

H A P P Y      S E P T E M B E R!!

Honorella devotes herself to learning.  She knows that life is full of wonderful lessons.  Her philosophy that “wisdom shared is wisdom gained” makes her one of Knittington’s most beloved teachers.  September is her favorite month, full of the excitement that comes with preparing for a new school year, when every pupil is worth the effort.  Even the little squirrels in Knittington benefit from Honorella’s simple yet valuable instruction.

Until next time may happy days abound!

(I apologize for the dark photos…I just can’t seem to get the white backgrounds WHITE, or the colors as vivid as the originals.)

Mommies Make It Better

Good day, Friends,

I believe this naughty cold is packing its bags.  I’m feeling much better today, and I’d like to thank all of you for your kind wishes.

The other evening when I was feeling all stuffy, achy, and generally not so good, I texted my sister, Denise, with a “iiingh… mommy…”   And though I meant to add some humor to the situation, in a way that’s how I really felt..I wanted my mommy, even at this ripe age.

My sister understood because, though our dear mother’s been in a home for a quite a few years now, we both miss the way she used to be very much.  The first thing she would say when I had a cold was ‘keep gargling with salt water, dear”, and remembering that in my less than perky situation,  I also couldn’t help but remember her tender loving care throughout the years.

Denise texted me back with this lovely comment that I’d like to share with you now.  I thought her sentiment was perfectly put.

“There is never one so compassionate for us all  – as our mommy.
There is never one..who never rolls her eyes when we call, or show up at her door – as our mother”Denise Palermo

For those of you who still have your mothers, embrace the slight faults with the good…because one day you’ll only remember the good, and you’ll wish she was there with you again, even with her slight faults.

Thank you for visiting Leisure Lane…and until next time may happy AND HEALTHY days abound!

The Joy of June

Remember when June weddings were all the rave?  Well, it’s no different in Knittington, where the air is filled with excitement for the wedding of Lovliana.  She certainly is lovely, isn’t she?  Lovliana is ready to say “I do” to her beau.  What a happy day in Knittington!

Make A Wish!

Emma Jane is an exuberant fairy, who believes in putting everything she
has into a wish.  Though she is sometimes unaware of her strength, her
little friends can quite attest to the magnanimity of her success.

Welcome to Leisure Lane, friends.  Emma Jane is joining The Knittington Fairies’ Shop & Gallery.  Do you have a wish?  I hope she’s encouraged you to make one today…make it big, and put all you have into it just like Emma Jane.  I know you can do it!  Have the courage to receive it within your spirit, and you shall have it. (Mark 11:22-25)

You just might ‘blow’ others away when they see your success.

Have a glorious day, and expect the best.  Until next time, may happy days abound!

Something Borrowed, Something Blue

Hello Friends,

Last Tuesday I shared a wonderfully interesting cup for Teacup Tuesday ‘borrowed’ from my friend, Brenda.  Well, this week I am sharing her photos of a second set she bought at a garage sale right here in my neighborhood (I had to work that day – phooy!)

They are from Germany, but I couldn’t find much about them.  Brenda found out some information about them, and posted the following in ‘comments’:

“From information I have found before concerning the teacups, Konigliche Manufaktur is the company that manufactured the cups and the “artist” or creator is C. Bavaria. Altenkirchen is a district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, according to this link;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altenkirchen_%28district%29.
So actually I am wondering if these teacups came from this district. There was another website where I saw more porcelain from Konigliche that had marks by Bavaria where the handles were all different. This may be THE style of creating; each piece unique of being in the same set, but all different designs just as my cups are all painted different, but in the same set. Anyway, I love them and am happy of the find!! Thanks, Marianne, for posting them.” AND

“I also found this piece of information. This was on a Michael C. Fina website:

Konigliche Porzellan- Manufaktur treasures porcelain as if it were “white gold”. Frederick the Great, the Prussian King, shared the same rapture and he gave Konigliche Porzellan- Manufaktur his name and symbol.

Clinging to the age-old tradition, the Konigliche Porzellan-Manufaktur porcelain is still shaped by hand and elaborately painted in Berlin.”

They’re wonderfully cheerful, don’t you think?  And the shape of the saucers are fun – like flower petals.

She took a photo of them stacked to show that each cup had a different design.  She calls them ‘happy cups’ and I have to agree.  I’m glad I was able to share these with you.

To see more wonderful Teacups, stop by to visit the hosts of Teacup Tuesday, Terri (Artful Affirmations) and Martha (Martha’s Favorites).

If you like tea time and fairies, click on The Knittington Fairies’ Shop & Gallery for more goodies.

Special thanks to Brenda for sharing her precious cups and saucers.  Thank you for visiting Leisure Lane, and until next time, may happy days abound!

Hello Friends,

You may have noticed that I have two new pages up and running.  The Licensing/Contact page is now available, and Leisure Lane Gallery is a place to showcase more of my series and individual illustrations and artwork.

In the near future I am planning to add pages which will feature examples of my creative writing.  I’m excited!

Also, I’m happy to announce that I am able to pass along to you savings on The Knittington Fairies cards.  The cards are now available for $2.75.  You can check them out at The Knittington Fairies’ Shop & Gallery.  I will be offering The Knittington Fairies images as prints, hopefully soon.  I’ll let you know when that becomes available.

Good news all around.  Thank you for visiting Leisure Lane.  We’re always glad to see you.

Until next time, may happy days abound.

Knittington’s April Fairy

Who better to welcome in April here on Leisure Lane than Grace, Knittington’s own knitting fairy.  Read all about her in The Knittington Fairies’ Shop and Gallery.

I’ve been very busy lately nurturing a beautiful flower of faith…the seed planted many years ago began to bloom, and though crowded out by unseemly weeds of doubt for a long time, has suddenly blossomed.  Doubts,  uprooted with voracity, no longer have  a welcome in my beautiful garden.

About 5 years ago I produced a beautiful piece of art which symbolizes this very concept.  Hopefully soon I will be able to share it with you.

As I promised, here is another wonderful verse from the Irish blessing posted March 17th.  Truly something to meditate on, receive, and be thankful for the choice!

May you live as long as you want,
And never want as long as you live.

Life is a remarkable gift…Love it, Create it, Live it!

Thank you for visiting.   Until next time, may happy days abound.

Marianne
