Falling in Love with the Eternal Spirit

Good day all. It’s the day after Valentine’s Day, and I would like to share with you an excerpt from The Gardener of My Soul which I think is appropriate for this time – when we have our thoughts on love.

Speaking of love, I want to briefly say, my brother passed last Friday. It was a bittersweet thing (mostly bitter), as he’d suffered from an illness for two-thirds of his life, an illness that just kept bringing more suffering as each year progressed. And sweet because finally he is whole, youthful again and nearer to God than ever. So, in honor of love in all its forms, I share the following with you. I hope it brings you closer to your Source.

I am in love with You!  I want to sing Your praises all the day.  Like a love-struck youth, I gloat in the giddiness of my affections.  I want to tell everyone of Your beauty.  My friends fear that I lose myself in You, but I am not afraid.  I desire to be lost in You, for I lose nothing of importance, but I gain all that matters – Eternal Bliss!

Note to the beloved:

If you have ever fallen in love, you know the feeling that comes with it – the pure essence of spring, where everything seems to be blooming in the garden of your heart no matter what season it is.  During this intense time, even past hurts are beyond your memory.  It is the same when you realize the presence of Eternal Love.  It takes up all of your mind and heart; every moment your thoughts are consumed with it.  It is all you can think and talk about, and even if you awake in the middle of the night your thoughts immediately begin adoration of the object of your affection.  This is the beginning of Spiritual love as well as natural love.  But as time passes, as with all newly discovered love, you may sense a lull of attention from the Lover.  Don’t fear this part of the relationship, for God never tires of you and will never leave you.  Rather the trust of marriage must now be forged.  He has made His way into your heart, and you must know, without a shadow of doubt, that He will always be yours.  Trusting in His love is the only way you will live a full and satisfied life.

Thank you for visiting today. Take the time to tell someone you love them, even if it’s just looking in the mirror. Relax today, shine your light, take deep, cleansing breaths, and…

Until next time, may happy days abound!

The Key

Good Tuesday, friends. We are in the LOVE month. I hope you’re enjoying a day full of love, and what better love than the Love of God radiating toward us, through us and around us. May the following excerpt from The Gardener of My Soul open the door to your awareness of that unconditional love.

Your love has made me forget the aridness of my calamities. Your love quenches my thirst and guides me to the oasis of Your Presence. I am transformed by Your beauty and grace. My dark loneliness vanishes at the awareness of Your entrance as quickly as a shadow flees from the sun. “Come”, You say, “Come and sit with Me by the cool stream; shade yourself under the canopy of My promises; listen to the coos of My affection for you.” I am entranced by my meditation on You. I knock at the gate of Your heart, and my soul cries out, “Open to me, You are my only Lover,” and You say, “Look into your heart for the key; you possess it. It is straight and made of My purest essence – use it! I will open the portal of My Love. I have always been here, waiting, waiting. At last you have found Me!”

Note to the beloved:

Love is a beautiful, bounding, and sometimes, a mysterious phenomenon. We were designed to love and be loved. But the most precious, lasting, and unconditional love that we most assuredly need to unlock our ability to express love to others, comes from God. This Love, which radiantly permeates every human being, is found within. Seeking it outside of our own heart is a barren journey and leads only to disappointment and grief. But once realized that this relentless Love is easily accessed by calming your thoughts and focusing your attention on it, you will surely be happy – really happy; a happiness which will come from inside of you. Finding this Love means you have found God. Give yourself the time to find Him and His Love. Take moments out of your day to be still. Your cup will run over into the lives of those around you, and that is ecstatic living!

Thank you for visiting me here on Leisure Lane. Be blessed, and…

Until next time, may happy days abound!

Be Ravenous for God

Good day, everyone. May the following excerpt from The Gardener of My Soul speak to your spirit today.

These intimate prayers and dialogues came to me during an intense spiritual wooing and rebirth between 2004 and 2006. As I read them again in sharing them with you, I am renewed by them, and my hope is that they will renew you, as well.

Oh Lord, let me suckle from You like a ravenous babe, all You have to nourish me!

Note to the beloved:

Are you hungry for God?  The Eternal Lover wants us to come to Her hungry.  The nourishment She will provide to you is everything you need to live on this earth, and to carry you blissfully into the next Life when you are satisfied and done with this one.

We usually refer to God with pronouns – He, She, It – but in truth, the Eternal One is Spirit.  However, this Spirit encompasses every aspect of familiar life-giving characteristics; the nurturing mother, the providing father, the tender lover.  It is all these things to us.  A newborn child is in the process of growth, so it comes to the breast of its mother with ravenous expectancy and appetite.  So, we, who are born of Spirit, come to the breast of God with the same expectancy and appetite as a newborn baby.  Tell God you are hungry and expect to be fed the Life-giving substance that will provide good thoughts, good health, and good experiences.

Thank you for visiting me on Leisure Lane today. I hope you have found encouragement in this post. Remember to laugh today, speak life-giving words to your body, do a little exercise (I must remember to do that today), and…

Until next time, may happy days abound!

Arise and Shine!

“Arise and Shine” coffee/tea mug

Good morning, friends. Arise and Shine! I hope you’re enjoying a sunny day, no matter the weather.

I love this Arise and Shine design. It just seems to make me want to start the day with vigor. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll notice that most of the lovely photos that have accompanied my articles here on the Leisure Lane blog over the years are now available on products for you to enjoy. It was a dream of mine for you (and me) to enjoy these lovely photos in your own home – everyday.

“Arise and Shine!” phone cases

to see all the products this design is available on, click here.

Another intent of mine has always been to encourage, motivate, and inspire others to be their best – to grow in confidence, knowing that their total well-being is supported by someone. The journey is a lifetime, and sometimes arduous – so many steps back along with the steps forward – but it should be sprayed with joy knowing that progress is being made. That’s how I look at it. Being able to show my authentic self after so many years of hiding who I really was at a struggling job is one of the most liberating things God has done for me. It was like he said, “You don’t have to start all over, my dear one…we’ll just brush off some of the dust on your soul and continue on.” What a gift to know I am so important to the LORD, the one who flung the Universe into existence.

So, Arise and Shine and let your light shine through – there’s no better day than today!

Well, I hope you enjoyed your visit here today, and you found something to inspire and uplift you. If you have, share it with someone else – spread the positive aspects of everything about you, and…

Until next time, may happy days abound!

Always in the Mind of God – Excerpt from The Gardener of My Soul

Good day, friends and welcome to Leisure Lane. I hope you are enjoying a healthy Monday. The following is another excerpt from The Gardener of My Soul. I pray that it inspires you in your walk with God today, motivating you to share His great love for you with others.

Touch my head, oh Lord.  But if you ignore me, I shall not care. For You must be conscious of me to ignore me, and in that consciousness I am still in Your thoughts.

Note to the beloved:

At times many of us feel that God is so far away from us. We wonder how He could notice us. Or sometimes we may feel ignored by Him. Perhaps we wonder if our prayers are truly being heard, or if we are simply wasting our breath. But remember, in Luke 12:7, Jesus tells us that we are more important than the sparrows. This is an important reminder to us that we are not only in our heavenly Father’s consciousness, but that our lives are of utmost importance to Him. If He cares daily for the sparrows, how much more will He care for us. Have faith! You are never disconnected from God.  No matter how you feel, you are always in His Eternal Mind – that secret place. Abide there.

Isaiah 49:15 says it best, “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.” The original Hebrew word for mercy used many times in the Old Testament can be literally translated ‘womb’. Isn’t that wonderful to know? Our beloved Creator compares Itself to a mother, who is always in remembrance of the child of Her womb and is ever ready to show Divine Mercy. There is never a time when you will not be in the consciousness of the Divine. Embrace that thought and meditate on it daily.

Remember – you don’t have to become mended or perfected to begin to receive God’s magnanimous Love. It’s available at all times in all circumstances, and it’s through His love that we acquire the desire to embark on the path to wholeness and perfection. The journey is in your hands – in your choice. Our heavenly Father has already made His choice – He says, “Come!”

Thank you for visiting today. May you be filled with the Spirit of Light today, and…

Until next time, may happy days abound!

Whatever Things You Desire…

“Whatever things you desire when you pray, believe you receive [them] and you shall have [them].”  Mark 11:24

Good day to all…

and thank you for dropping by Leisure Lane to say ‘hello’.

One of the most joyous times for me is early morning.  Especially when the sunbeams gently stream through the window and dance with the shadows.  It always invites me to sit peacefully and listen to the quietness of God.  It is at these times more than most that He speaks to my spirit and invites me to speak to His.

Today was such a day, and in such a day the Lord reminded me of ‘desire’ – the desires that are in my heart.  Those desires that are for my well-being and the well-being of others.  And he reminded me that if I desire it, then He placed it within me.  His Spirit placed within my spirit the desires of my heart, and that I should be at peace with that knowledge.

I was reminded that I am co-creator with Him; that He wishes for me to relinquish the struggle within, and to bring my desires to Him when I pray, believe I have already received them (that is to take them when I pray), and they shall manifest for me.  Simple teaching of Jesus.  So why do I, and so many of us, make it complicated?  That is a good question that only each of us can answer for ourselves.  God already knows.  So I answer it and then relinquish it.

My vow to myself and to God, who desires all joy and good things for me, is to relinquish ALL things that do not benefit, uplift, feed, and produce Life in my spirit, soul, and body…to be drawn only to those things which are in His will for me.  For I know that in that will be great expectancy and manifestation of  joy, peace, harmony, balance, and fulfilled purpose.

I hope that you will find a part of the day that will bring you into the quietness of God.  And throughout the day, stop and take a moment to extend that grace back to Him.  For that is the first desire of the heart.

Until next time, may happy days abound.

Simple and True

It’s really that simple, friends, so why do we make it more difficult?  Perhaps ‘unknowing’ is all they ‘knew’ to teach to us.

But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” James 1:6

“And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” Matthew 21:22

“Ask and it will be given to you…” Matthew 7:7

“…Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” Mark 11:24

Girl-in-green-with-open-arms-in-green-field-of-grass-300x199Maybe we just need to open our receptors a little wider.

I have an idea for another post that may expound on this a bit more.  In the meantime, I hope you receive those things which you desire when you pray.  Because if it’s good health, well being, peace, prosperity in every area of your life (whether it be time, money, less debt, true friends, quiet days), you know that all those things ARE the will of God for you and your loved ones.

Until next time, may happy days abound!

Note:  The above image of the night sky was a photo I took the other night.  The sky was so full of the fluffiest storm clouds, and the moon was shining and reflecting most beautifully off of them.  The photo doesn’t do the real thing justice, but it’s still effective, I think.

Soul SurvivorSurrender

Surrender, surrender my soul.
Surrender to the wind coming out of the east.
Surrender to the sunset in its last golden rays.
Surrender to the Love which permeates every atom.

 Surrender, surrender my heart.
Surrender to the prayer whispered in your psyche.
Dress yourself in white.
Release the veil of wishing.
Surrender to the Everlasting.
Give up your fight.

 Surrender, surrender my soul.
Surrender to the peace.
Surrender your imagination to the Illimitable.
Surrender to the depth of Being.

 Surrender, surrender my heart.
Make your last stand in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Think there, breathe there, live there.
Surrender to the Timeless.
Be One, be complete, be gotten.

This poem was inspired by an idea for a painting I wasn’t able to do at the time, so I put it into words.  There’s always a pencil and paper at hand; that’s the great thing about writing.  Perhaps one day the painting will be done, but if not it is still in my imagination.  Many things awaken the joy within me, but I think the thing that begins it all is when Spirit whispers to me, and inspired Joy is released.

I hope it speaks to you in some way.  May God bless you and give you the desires of your heart.  Until next time, may happy days abound!

If the Word was a Cupcake

If the Word of God was a cupcake, would we indulge ourselves more often?  Would we make the time no matter how busy we are, at least once a day, to satiate our appetite?  Would we think about it day and night, knowing it was so close, within arms reach, until we just had to have it?   Would we gobble it down, or slowly engage in its luscious goodness?  Would we go back for seconds, or thirds because its flavor was just too good to resist?

“My people are being destroyed because they don’t know Me…”  Hosea 4:6 (NLT 2007).

The Word of God is like a smorgasbord of spiritual morsels waiting to be devoured by anyone looking to sweeten some part of their life.  There is something to be found in it that will delight, satisfy, and replenish every hungry soul.  You cannot walk away from it without finding just the right words for you at the very moment you need them.  And, like any good cupcake, the Word is always fresh to eyes willing to see it, and moist on any tongue willing to speak it.

And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
(Matthew 18:3)  Let us approach our Eternal Creator and Its Word like children, wide-eyed, awed, and excited about all the possibilities before us.

“…God is Love.” (1 John 4:8)  That’s the icing on the Cupcake of Life.  And when I sit down to enjoy a cupcake I always begin with the icing.

Until next time, may happy days abound!
