River Runs Deep: a love story

Hello friends, and thanks for strolling by the lane today.

Last night I had a dream about my book, River Runs Deep, so, today I decided to feature it. This story was quite therapeutic for me in many ways. First, while writing it, I was still working at the awful job I was able to be redeemed from this past May, and little did I know at the time of writing it how prophetic it would be. Second, it was a beautiful way to rekindle a sweet memory that has lasted all these years.

Though it’s a fictional story, there is much truth in many of the story’s circumstances, so it really was, as they say, writing about what you know. If you’re looking for a good, clean romance (like Hallmark, only with a bit more depth), one that puts a lot of story into a short amount of reading time, then I think you’ll enjoy River Runs Deep: a love story.

Come by and visit again. There are lots of things on Leisure Lane to inspire you from past to present. Be brave, think twice, do what’s right, and…

Until next time, may happy days abound!

Arise and Shine!

“Arise and Shine” coffee/tea mug

Good morning, friends. Arise and Shine! I hope you’re enjoying a sunny day, no matter the weather.

I love this Arise and Shine design. It just seems to make me want to start the day with vigor. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll notice that most of the lovely photos that have accompanied my articles here on the Leisure Lane blog over the years are now available on products for you to enjoy. It was a dream of mine for you (and me) to enjoy these lovely photos in your own home – everyday.

Another intent of mine has always been to encourage, motivate, and inspire others to be their best – to grow in confidence, knowing that their total well-being is supported by someone. The journey is a lifetime, and sometimes arduous – so many steps back along with the steps forward – but it should be sprayed with joy knowing that progress is being made. That’s how I look at it. Being able to show my authentic self after so many years of hiding who I really was at a struggling job is one of the most liberating things God has done for me. It was like he said, “You don’t have to start all over, my dear one…we’ll just brush off some of the dust on your soul and continue on.” What a gift to know I am so important to the LORD, the one who flung the Universe into existence.

So, Arise and Shine and let your light shine through – there’s no better day than today!

Well, I hope you enjoyed your visit here today, and you found something to inspire and uplift you. If you have, share it with someone else – spread the positive aspects of everything about you, and…

Until next time, may happy days abound!

Always in the Mind of God – Excerpt from The Gardener of My Soul

Good day, friends and welcome to Leisure Lane. I hope you are enjoying a healthy Monday. The following is another excerpt from The Gardener of My Soul. I pray that it inspires you in your walk with God today, motivating you to share His great love for you with others.

Touch my head, oh Lord.  But if you ignore me, I shall not care. For You must be conscious of me to ignore me, and in that consciousness I am still in Your thoughts.

Note to the beloved:

At times many of us feel that God is so far away from us. We wonder how He could notice us. Or sometimes we may feel ignored by Him. Perhaps we wonder if our prayers are truly being heard, or if we are simply wasting our breath. But remember, in Luke 12:7, Jesus tells us that we are more important than the sparrows. This is an important reminder to us that we are not only in our heavenly Father’s consciousness, but that our lives are of utmost importance to Him. If He cares daily for the sparrows, how much more will He care for us. Have faith! You are never disconnected from God.  No matter how you feel, you are always in His Eternal Mind – that secret place. Abide there.

Isaiah 49:15 says it best, “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.” The original Hebrew word for mercy used many times in the Old Testament can be literally translated ‘womb’. Isn’t that wonderful to know? Our beloved Creator compares Itself to a mother, who is always in remembrance of the child of Her womb and is ever ready to show Divine Mercy. There is never a time when you will not be in the consciousness of the Divine. Embrace that thought and meditate on it daily.

Remember – you don’t have to become mended or perfected to begin to receive God’s magnanimous Love. It’s available at all times in all circumstances, and it’s through His love that we acquire the desire to embark on the path to wholeness and perfection. The journey is in your hands – in your choice. Our heavenly Father has already made His choice – He says, “Come!”

Thank you for visiting today. May you be filled with the Spirit of Light today, and…

Until next time, may happy days abound!

On Spirit Communing with spirit

Dear friends, the following is an excerpt from prayers and dialogues written from 2004 – 2007, which I call The Gardener of My Soul. I hope this helps you, inspires you, soothes you – whatever you can glean from it to give your mind peace.

February, 2007

I understood today why I am overwhelmed by silence in the yearning for the Lover.  He is there with my spirit.  He is embracing the soul.  Words end. There are no words to express, no sounds to mutter, no utterances from the vocal chords.  My lips open longing to say what I feel, but Spirit is engaged with His beloved and there is no room for my flesh.  That is Spirit communing with spirit.  Silence is the marriage bed, where two become one.  There is only the ecstasy of the soul for her Lover, and the knowledge that only He has the power to come to her through her passionate and silent urging.

Note to the beloved:

It is sometimes very difficult to remain in silence.  Talking to God makes us seem like there is a true communication going on.  And certainly, it is vitally important for us to verbally express our longings, our intentions, and heart-felt feelings to our Eternal Parent.  But sometimes, when the longing becomes so intense, and a sensation washes over us like a soothing balm, words have no place, and quiet is the best antidote.  This is the moment when God can fully embrace you with the Love He so patiently has waited to pour on you.  Embrace it with all of your heart.  Remain silent, and let His Spirit love yours.  It is a communication between them, though you may not fully comprehend with your mind, it will be fully appreciated in the very core of your being.

Thank you for visiting Leisure Lane today. If this inspired you, I’d love to hear from you. May God bless you along your soul’s path, and…

Until next time, may happy days abound!

February Spiral Notebook for Dreams, Thoughts, Ideas, and More

February Spiral Notebook from The Knittington Fairies collection.
Also available in note cards, postcards, stickers, and more.

Good day, friends, and welcome to Leisure Lane. I hope you’re all enjoying the beginning of the new year with good health and new dreams (or expansions on some older ones).

A February spiral notebook is available to write down dreams, aspirations, thoughts, gratitude, ideas, and so much more. I began a gratitude journal in 2012 to switch my thoughts from the negative side of the day to the positive. It works wonders and turned into a gratitude/affirmation journal, as I make the scriptures my personal affirmations about how God sees me and who I am in and with Him. After all, Jesus’ whole life was one big affirmation of God’s love for us. That should make us very grateful.

Thank you for visiting today. I hope you find something here to inspire your day. Until next time, may happy days abound!

Collage of Cards

Collage of Cards

Good Monday, everyone. I hope you will all have a great new week ahead, beginning with today.

Saturday, I received 4x 6 inch postcards I ordered from LeisureLane1 on Redbubble. They are so pretty and I can’t wait for them to greet someone special in their mail box. And they’re even nice enough to frame. I’ll have to keep checking for some cute frames while I’m out and about.

Seeing them together reminded me of all the beauty life has to offer, and the beauty we get to create with our thoughts, our words, and our hands.

I also received two stickers, and I can use them in many ways; give them as gifts, stick them on card stock and make my own postcards or little note cards with them, or use them on the outside of envelopes, on my computer, in my journal…the possibilities are many. One I just thought of now, is sticking them on a sturdy backing and adding the flat magnets on the back for my refrigerator – that way I’ll always be reminded of good things.

The “Peace – Snow on the Berries” mug is precious. It also comes in “Merry & Bright”, “Happy Holidays”, “Merry Christmas”, and no text.

I hope these images inspire you to seek out, see, and enjoy the collage of all pretty things in life. May you enjoy your day, and…

Until next time, may happy days abound!
