Collage of Cards

Collage of Cards

Good Monday, everyone. I hope you will all have a great new week ahead, beginning with today.

Saturday, I received 4x 6 inch postcards I ordered from LeisureLane1 on Redbubble. They are so pretty and I can’t wait for them to greet someone special in their mail box. And they’re even nice enough to frame. I’ll have to keep checking for some cute frames while I’m out and about.

Seeing them together reminded me of all the beauty life has to offer, and the beauty we get to create with our thoughts, our words, and our hands.

I also received two stickers, and I can use them in many ways; give them as gifts, stick them on card stock and make my own postcards or little note cards with them, or use them on the outside of envelopes, on my computer, in my journal…the possibilities are many. One I just thought of now, is sticking them on a sturdy backing and adding the flat magnets on the back for my refrigerator – that way I’ll always be reminded of good things.

The “Peace – Snow on the Berries” mug is precious. It also comes in “Merry & Bright”, “Happy Holidays”, “Merry Christmas”, and no text.

I hope these images inspire you to seek out, see, and enjoy the collage of all pretty things in life. May you enjoy your day, and…

Until next time, may happy days abound!

Tea and Love to Mend

Teacup cardHello friends, and welcome…

I took a ladybug note card (blank inside)…

Teacup card 3and cherry-cheery napkins I bought at a dollar store (aren’t they the sweetest? I knew I’d find something to use them for).  I cut out part of it for the teacup, and with the left over piece I cut out a little handle.

Then I pasted the napkin cup onto some sturdier paper, and cut around the shape.  Afterward, I glued it onto the inside of the note card.

Teaciup card 2Finally, I wrote a sentiment, printed it out on paper, and glued it to the inside of the card…

Teacup card 4added a teabag (I really used a Green tea/Jasmine, but the Earl Grey looks better for the photo), put it in its envelope, and placed it in my dear neighbor/friend’s mailbox.  She was wounded in an accident, and this is just a little way to let her know I’m here for her.

Thank you for visiting Leisure Lane.  It’s always a pleasure to see you, and to spend some time together.

May you all be safe and healthy, and may the Lord bless you and keep you under His wings.  Until next time, may happy days abound!

When One Door Closes…

Good day, friends,

Well, today is the book-signing at a local shop.  I was prepared to bring the note cards and some other goodies I had available for sale.  However, I found out last weekend that my request for the day off was denied.  Though disappointment was my very first reaction (more like “hunh?” ), I made up my mind that instant to stay positive.  I decided that it was okay, and if that option was not available to me at this time another would present itself.  And because God is ever faithful,  the cards have been selling despite what initially seemed to be a setback.

Trust and faith are so important…but where one’s trust and faith are is more important.  So today I just finished putting the final touches on another two orders of the Christmas cards, and later I’ll be on my way to work, knowing in my heart that this is only for a season; a season which is coming to an end.  And a new, wonderful, extraordinary season is budding even as I speak.  Oh, what beautiful fruit, what glorious, kingdom fruit this season shall produce!

Enjoy the day, and until next time, may happy days abound.

Fairy Cards Update

They’re here!  The Christmas and New Year cards are available, and with the added glitter they are precious.  The Christmas has glitter spotting the background like little snowflakes all around her, and a touch of sparkle on her fuzzy warm collar and cuff.  The New Year fairy’s wings are all a twinkle and the ice glistens.  How fun! To read more about her, visit the Knittington Fairies page.

PayPal should be available soon for those of you who are interested in the cards.

I’d like to leave you with encouraging words:  “…And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works.”  Hebrews 10:24

Have a wonderful day.  And until next time, may happy days abound.

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood…

Hello neighbor!  Call me ‘past tense’, I don’t care, but I did enjoy when Mr. Rogers sang his “beautiful day in the neighborhood” song.  And today it really is a beautiful day.  Perhaps not as cool as I would like in November, but a glorious day nevertheless…clear skies, crisp air, cool breezes….Ahhhh!

I’m making preparations to bring some of my cards to a book signing in town.  A local shop owner sponsors book signings on occasion, and has invited me to join in the fun.  It will be held on December 4th, so there are a few things I need to get in order~ not to mention building this site, and an Etsy shop is still ‘on the table’.

Happy Thursday to you all.   Until next time, may happy days abound!

About the Knittington Fairies

Hello Friends,

I wanted to briefly share with you the beginnings of  the Knittington Fairies.  One evening in 2007 I had just finished making a card for someone, when suddenly I imagined a whimsical face with quirky hair frantically knitting a “Merry Christmas” message (it was close to Christmas).  As I began to sketch she took on a life of her own with fairy wings, a flowing dress and a star in her hair.  The next day I made a Thanksgiving fairy.

Before I knew it I had a fairy for every month of the year, and the Knittington Fairies were born.  It was as if each one whispered their name, and their personalities seemed to pop off the pages.

I will be adding more pictures as the blog develops, so keep checking back.  And I’ll keep you up to date on any new paintings, stories, or drawings that will be added to the neighborhood on Leisure Lane.

Until next time, may happy days abound.

Marianne
