Country Hen’s New Look

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I hope you are all well.

Today, I’d like to share a sweet country hen thrift store find. It looks like an oil on panel painting and was in a very dark brown box-like frame. I became quite fond of the painting and felt it only needed a revised frame to brighten it up. So, I lovingly repainted and crackled it with a red. The original dark brown color underneath tones down the overcoat making it a wonderful country red and gives the original painting a whole new look.

I just love the way it looks so new, yet still retains that aged country charm.

Adding a couple of hooks on the bottom of the frame makes it more functional for hanging potholders, keys, a favorite teacup or two, etc.  The artist signed it “Kasper”. I did some internet research, but couldn’t find much. If anyone knows about this artist and his/her style, please let me know.  I originally re-purposed this to sell, but after it’s new look, I fell for it so much that if someone doesn’t claim it soon, I’ll just have to keep it 😉

Thank you for visiting today, and I hope you enjoyed this post. You can also follow me on Pinterest  Have a wonderful day, and…

Until next time, may happy days abound!

An Open Heart Never Grows Old

IMG_2160

Hello dear friends, and welcome to Leisure Lane…

I certainly hope you are all experiencing a delightful day in one way or another.  As I may have mentioned before, every evening I’ve been writing in my gratitude journal, which also turned out to be an affirmation journal.  I seem to evolve in how and what I write in them.  My latest journal book was given to me by my sweet neighbor.  I love that it has a blank page on the left for drawing or special sayings, and a lined page on the right for writing.

I’ve decided to share some of my doodles, if you will…things that come to mind that evening.  This part relaxes me very much, and it’s during the doodling that I really release the angst of work.

I hope in my sharing some of my pages, you can glean something that will inspire you, or bring you joy.  And I hope that your day is filled with happy thoughts and peace of mind.

Until next time, may happy days abound!

Hello friends,

It’s been a while since Kare and Mare, so I thought I’d share some more.  Everyone needs an outing once in a while, and Kare and Mare love the opportunity.  Remember ‘Nilla?  She’s staying home.

If you’ve missed any “Kare and Mare”, or you’d like to know more about them, you can go to the Kare and Mare page and view them there.

Until next time, may happy days abound!

Star Bright Christmas Hanger

IMG_1597

Hello Friends,

Today I managed to create another Christmas hanger, similar to the one in my previous post.  This time I used some beautiful wrapping paper and laces purchased at my local thrift store.  I’ve been frequenting the store picking up bags of wonderful laces and fabric remnants.  Isn’t the green lace beautiful?  The gold ribbon and star was actually given to me by a dear neighbor boy years ago…he’s no longer a boy, but just turned 16 this year.  I’ve re-purposed it and will be giving this one to his mom.

I’m having fun making these, and hope to be able to do a few more.  I hope you enjoyed these, and they’ve inspired you.

Until next time, may happy days abound!
