Cool Down with Colors and Thoughts of Autumn

IMG_2229

Hi, everyone….I hope you are all doing well today.

I know we should remain in the moment, and it’s nice to revel in summer aromas and the warm sun.  But with temperatures soaring and heat indexes hitting 109+, I can’t help but think of cooler autumn days.  So rummaging through my yarn piles I found this pretty deep blue that reminded me of autumn, and immediately set out to knit something…anything…I think it’s going to be an ear-warmer headband similar to one I saw on…yes…Pinterest 😉

So if it’s just too darn hot where you live, and thinking of that sensational upcoming season cools you down a bit, then go for it…colored leaves, crisp cool breezes, knitting or crocheting beckoning to be played with, a good book beckoning to be read, or the taste of apple crisp…any thought that can do the trick to keep you cooler and more comfortable.  And I will add being grateful for air conditioning helps too.  It’s something I don’t ever take for granted.

I’m not really a knitter, but I like to do simple things on occasion.  It comforts me.  As for you real knitters out there – well, you’re amazing!  So keep inspiring us.  How about you?  Have you been thinking of the cooler autumn and feeling like knitting or crocheting lately?  I’d love to hear about it.

Until next time, may happy days abound!

Fun Giveaway Links And Valentine Vote

Welcome to Leisure Lane, dear Friends,

I’m very happy you’ve decided to stop by for a visit.  It’s a cloudy day today, but I’m hoping to at least get in some painting.  Perhaps just some dabbling.

Also, I have to decide which St. Valentine’s Day design I’m going to introduce to you.  Perhaps you would like to help…here are two St. Valentine’s Day Knittington Fairy designs.  Leave a comment to vote for the one you would like to see in card form.  This could be fun.  Just write the name of the fairy you’re voting for in your comment…the voting will extend until January 10th.

We’re not quite sure what put our Eloise in such a tiff, but she’s determined not to give her heart away to just anyone.  However our gnome friend mustn’t dismay ~ love is closer than he thinks. (Eloise was made for the 12 month Knittington Fairy calender I hope to someday soon see in production). There’s more to Francesca than her perky ponytail and cute ens amble.  She’s ever quick to reciprocate a kindness, which only adds to her already “hip” demeanor.  Knitting fun scarves and creating unique “you-can’t-find-this-anywhere-else” gifts for her friends is her favorite past time.  She encourages all the Knittington fairies to let their imaginations soar, and create ~ create ~ create!

I’m also working on my next giveaway which should be around Valentine’s Day.

Until next time, may happy days abound!

Fairy Cards Update

They’re here!  The Christmas and New Year cards are available, and with the added glitter they are precious.  The Christmas has glitter spotting the background like little snowflakes all around her, and a touch of sparkle on her fuzzy warm collar and cuff.  The New Year fairy’s wings are all a twinkle and the ice glistens.  How fun! To read more about her, visit the Knittington Fairies page.

PayPal should be available soon for those of you who are interested in the cards.

I’d like to leave you with encouraging words:  “…And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works.”  Hebrews 10:24

Have a wonderful day.  And until next time, may happy days abound.

About the Knittington Fairies

Hello Friends,

I wanted to briefly share with you the beginnings of  the Knittington Fairies.  One evening in 2007 I had just finished making a card for someone, when suddenly I imagined a whimsical face with quirky hair frantically knitting a “Merry Christmas” message (it was close to Christmas).  As I began to sketch she took on a life of her own with fairy wings, a flowing dress and a star in her hair.  The next day I made a Thanksgiving fairy.

Before I knew it I had a fairy for every month of the year, and the Knittington Fairies were born.  It was as if each one whispered their name, and their personalities seemed to pop off the pages.

I will be adding more pictures as the blog develops, so keep checking back.  And I’ll keep you up to date on any new paintings, stories, or drawings that will be added to the neighborhood on Leisure Lane.

Until next time, may happy days abound.

Marianne
