The Presence of Friends

Maud Humphrey

Friends are sometimes like a bellows on dying embers, recharging us with encouraging words, or a hug and a smile. They are often the only ones available to stand in the gap, or on rare occasions to pray big and move mountains.  But I am prone to wonder of the more meaningful…

                                  Presence of Friends

Because of friends… our mail boxes are more cheerful, our birthdays are happier, and our hearts more likely to shine on a rainy day.
Because of friends…our tears don’t fall alone, our laughter is heartier, and our days have more purpose.
Because of friends…a movie is more interesting, an outing more exciting, and a caffè latte more flavorful.
Because of friends…the moon seems bigger, the stars twinkle more, and a sunset is more glorious.
Because of friends…we have more memories, we smile more often, and our lives are more colorful.

Friends, no matter how many or how few, how far or how near, are treasures worth cherishing.

Thank you, my friends, for joining me today.  I hope you are having a joyous day.  If this made you think of a friend, drop him a note, or give her a call.

Until next time, may happy days abound!

An Open Heart Never Grows Old

IMG_2160

Hello dear friends, and welcome to Leisure Lane…

I certainly hope you are all experiencing a delightful day in one way or another.  As I may have mentioned before, every evening I’ve been writing in my gratitude journal, which also turned out to be an affirmation journal.  I seem to evolve in how and what I write in them.  My latest journal book was given to me by my sweet neighbor.  I love that it has a blank page on the left for drawing or special sayings, and a lined page on the right for writing.

I’ve decided to share some of my doodles, if you will…things that come to mind that evening.  This part relaxes me very much, and it’s during the doodling that I really release the angst of work.

I hope in my sharing some of my pages, you can glean something that will inspire you, or bring you joy.  And I hope that your day is filled with happy thoughts and peace of mind.

Until next time, may happy days abound!

Tea and Friends

Teapot - good friendsHello friends,

You are invited to join me for a cup of tea while we visit Terri at Artful Affirmations for Teacup Tuesday.  Terri was one of the very first lovely ladies to welcome me in blogland.  Thank you, Terri.  And while you’re there, pop over to say hello to Martha, Terri’s tea-time partner.

I’ve been working on a couple of projects…sketching out the illustrations for the first of the Penelope Pumperschnook story book and paper doll series, and I recently recreated the cover for my second novella, “The Heart of Annie…The Strength of God.

Until next time, may happy days abound!

This past year I have been most blessed to become more intimately acquainted with some beautiful and creative women bloggers.  So to all of my ‘old’ and ‘new’ friends, I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas, and a most happy New Year.  May this season shower you with God’s greatest joy, peace, abundance, and Love now and forever more.

Beautiful towels, hand embroidered by my paternal grandmother, and given to me with love when I was a young girl.

Thank you all for sharing a part of yourself with me.  Your love, enthusiasm, support, encouragement, and friendship has made my heart glad, and has given me a chance to expand my capacity to see, hear, and love with more clarity.

God bless you all…and until next time, may happy days abound!

A Friendship Garden

Hello Friends,

I’d like to share a card I made for my dear friend, Karen, in San Antonio, Texas.  I haven’t seen her for quite some years now since she moved.  We talk at least once a week, not as often as we used to, and I miss her very much.  I decided to make her a special card.

The yellow ‘daffodils’ are from a painting sketch I did a while back, and I built up from there.  I wanted it to resemble a garden…she loves gardens.

The tiny bit of left over lace reminded me of a pretty fence.  And I added some three dimensional flowers to give it more texture and dimension.  The little blue butterfly’s wings are actually away from the paper in flight and the flight “tail wind” is made with left over slivers of paper I had trimmed away from another piece of paper.

I liked making the wings flutter with my fingers…It’s the child in me.

Another angle to see the flowers better.  I now wish I had added a bit of glitter to it to add a little sparkle.

The inside.  Oops, I might have forgotten to erase the pencil lines…☺…

“From Seeds of Love…a friendship garden grows”

I hope you enjoyed your visit here at Leisure Lane, and I hope it gave you a chance to relax and breathe in a bit of love and friendship.

Until next time, may happy days abound!

Roses In The Rubble

Hello Friends, and welcome to Leisure Lane…

I’ve written quite a few pieces on friendship.  The following is another one of the 15 minute poem exercises…this one about friends in our lives.  Enjoy!

Roses In The Rubble

When lives need to mend
God will send a friend.
A friend we’ve known for years,
Or one new to calm our fears.

 When everything seems lost
They help to count the cost.
They never come too late,
To help with life’s harsh fate.

God shows His love and care
By sending human angels where,
Amidst the toil and trouble
We find roses in the rubble.

Tea Poem and More

Good day, dear friends,

For this Teacup Tuesday I would like to share with you a cup of tea, some good fortune, and one of my tea poems.  Enjoy!

A Cup of Tea

It’s nice to have a cup of tea
And share our thoughts…don’t you agree?

It’s nice to take a sip or two
And think of reason’s I like you.

So since you don’t live near to me,
I’m sending you this cup of tea.

And when you take your sip or two
Remember I’ll have thoughts of you.

For more Teacup Tuesday, don’t forget to visit our hosts, Artful Affirmations and Martha’s Favorites.  They always have lovely things to show.  And when there you can visit other delightful sites with all sorts of teacups and other wonders.

Also, don’t forget to stop by Tea Pages, that wonderful blog of tea reviews, news, and more.  Katrina has just released a video book promo (on her Feb. 1st post) for her upcoming book “A Tea Reader”, which will be released this year.  It should be a very interesting read.

Thank you for allowing me into your lives today for some sharing and fun. My Wedgwood Wednesday idea has been a bit scattered.  So I hope to share some items tomorrow, as St. Valentines Day is approaching and I have some goodies for that occasion.

Until next time, may happy days abound.

Marianne ♥
