A Sister’s Heart: A Birthday Tribute

Good day, Friends,

This post is a tribute to a !remarkable! woman ~ my sister.  She’s funny with her birthdays…she used to celebrate a birth day, then a birth week, now a birth month…I think that’s a grand idea!  To honor her birthday I’ve written her the following poem.

A Sister’s Heart

A sister’s heart isn’t anything to brag about…Oh, no….
It’s only the kind of heart that sings when things are going well for you,
Cries when things aren’t as they should be, yet abounds in strength to keep you focused.

It’s the kind of heart that is still able to give,
Even when the well seems dry
Because the source of its bounty comes from somewhere higher.

It’s the kind of heart that loves you when you act unlovable,
Forgives on purpose, understands your point of view,
And never misuses a confidence.

It’s the kind of heart that grows in love as years pass by,
Laughs heartily with yours about subtle and not so subtle changes,
While bonding with your heart ever more tightly like a rose in reverse bloom.

It’s the kind of heart that harbors precious whispered prayers for your well-being,
Boldly approaches the Throne with them daily,
And while there, asks that you are given the chance to blossom to your fullest joy.

No, I suppose a sister’s heart isn’t anything to brag about.
Rather, a sister’s heart is something to cherish and trust.
A sister’s heart is something to love, and hold close to your own.

A sister’s heart, in all its gentleness and beauty, is a thing of surrender.
O, thank you, Lord,  for my sister, whose heart is full of Heaven’s sweetness,
And whom I shall treasure for all eternity.
