Yummy Apple Butter

I love apple butter, but haven’t had it in a long time.  So to remedy that, I made some with organic Gala apples, cinnamon, and cloves….Mmmm..MM!!  I love desserts but don’t like a lot of sugar in everything I eat, so making it from scratch was a good way to get natural ingredients and no sugar added.

I peeled the apples, cut them in medium chunks, and simmered them in a dash of water until they were nicely cooked.  Then I pureed them in a food processor and stirred in lots of cinnamon and a dash of ground cloves.  The cloves give it the apple butter flavor.  Sorry I didn’t measure the ingredients, I just add to taste.

I spooned the apple butter into a jar, and VOILA!   Umm…oops…………

As you can see it didn’t last very long…about two or three days.  Love it on my morning toast with tea.  Didn’t even take a photo of it on my toast…maybe next time.   If you’ve never made your own, give it a try.  I know you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

For the month of October I am donating 50% of my profits from the sale of The Christmas Pin Society to Elizabeth’s Hands for Christ .  With each purchase you will be helping to give a nursing home resident a softer place to lay their heads for Christmas.  Thank you.

I’m glad you came for a stroll along Leisure Lane.  Until next time, may happy days abound!

Marianne

I haven’t had apple butter in years! My grandmother used to make it, but I never have. I think that’s about to change. Thanks!

Thanks, Lynn…I’d like to think that, but actually I measure for most recipes. This was a pretty simple one, and you can almost never have too much cinnamon.

What a yummy treat! I’ve never made apple butter but I think I should give it a try! Apple season is in full swing and Kelly picked a bushel and split it between herself, me, and my mom. I only have about 3 left! They were so good! I love that you don’t measure, Marianne. That means your an exceptional cook!

That looks (looked) so yummy!! I bet it tasted sweet anyway! It’s wonderful to take time to make delicious things! I am on this health kick, so I just might try this. We should go to one of the farms around town and buy some organic items for home! It would be a good trip and a good time for us, and I am LOVING the cooler days. Let’s see if we can find some time!
Marianne, you have a beautiful heart! I know that others appreciate the things you do.
