The Blog’s Theme

Good day, friends,

I’ve been asked about the theme of this blog.  It is Koi by N. Designs, which is listed at the bottom of the home page.  It’s part of the WordPress Theme packets.  I like it, too.  I find it calming and easy on the eyes which is why I chose it for now.

At the moment, I am very attracted to calm, peaceful, environments.  I think it’s because my “regular” job doesn’t afford me that luxury.   So my goal is to enhance and expand this part of my life, while diminishing and ending the part which causes unneeded, negative stress.  I believe God puts a dream in every heart, and equips you with the gifts, talents, and loving people to accomplish those dreams; benefiting ALL.  Sometimes it just takes some of us longer to get there than others (I suppose the journey brings much enlightenment)…but hope springs eternal, and faith works miracles.

I also am very attracted to bright, cheery environments filled with pallets of cream white, sunny yellows, and lovely floral colors….I am being introduced to such wonderful blogs which feed that part of my soul.  Blessings are everywhere.

So go out today, be a blessing to others and to yourself.  Love, live, and serve with gratitude and contentment.  I look forward to your visits here on Leisure Lane.

Until next time, may happy days abound,

Marianne

Happy Thanksgiving

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood…

Hello neighbor!  Call me ‘past tense’, I don’t care, but I did enjoy when Mr. Rogers sang his “beautiful day in the neighborhood” song.  And today it really is a beautiful day.  Perhaps not as cool as I would like in November, but a glorious day nevertheless…clear skies, crisp air, cool breezes….Ahhhh!

I’m making preparations to bring some of my cards to a book signing in town.  A local shop owner sponsors book signings on occasion, and has invited me to join in the fun.  It will be held on December 4th, so there are a few things I need to get in order~ not to mention building this site, and an Etsy shop is still ‘on the table’.

Happy Thursday to you all.   Until next time, may happy days abound!

About the Knittington Fairies

Hello Friends,

I wanted to briefly share with you the beginnings of  the Knittington Fairies.  One evening in 2007 I had just finished making a card for someone, when suddenly I imagined a whimsical face with quirky hair frantically knitting a “Merry Christmas” message (it was close to Christmas).  As I began to sketch she took on a life of her own with fairy wings, a flowing dress and a star in her hair.  The next day I made a Thanksgiving fairy.

Before I knew it I had a fairy for every month of the year, and the Knittington Fairies were born.  It was as if each one whispered their name, and their personalities seemed to pop off the pages.

I will be adding more pictures as the blog develops, so keep checking back.  And I’ll keep you up to date on any new paintings, stories, or drawings that will be added to the neighborhood on Leisure Lane.

Until next time, may happy days abound.

‘Tis the Season

No, not Christmas.  I’m referring to seasons of opportunity; seizing the moment.

I’m not new to art or writing, but the amazing world of blogs and computers is an adventure I’m excited about.  Another season is presenting itself, and I don’t want it to pass by or to miss any of  its extraordinary surprises.

So while I’m busy preparing illustrations, printing, posting, and other aspects of Leisure Lane, I want to take every opportunity to connect with you so that you can be a part of it’s blossoming potential.  Well, back to the drawing board!

Until next time, may happy days abound.

Marianne
